Part 1: Saturday, June 8th 9:00 am to 12:30 pm

Humans talk, dogs observe. Our dogs are giving us cues and signals with their body language all the time. However, most of the time we don’t recognize these signals. In part one of this series we will use knowledge of canine language to better understand our dogs’ emotional states and predict what they may do next. We will discuss how to recognize fearful vs aggressive body language and learn human body language basics too. Come join us and learn how to ‘listen with your eyes’ and improve your understanding and communication with dogs. Videos and case studies will be presented.

Part 2: Saturday, July 13th 9:00 am to 12:30 pm

HELP! My dog barks, lunges, growls at other dogs? These dogs are reactive for a variety of reasons; fear, over stimulation, frustration, and excitement. Part two will focus on dogs that are over-reactive or aggressive around other dogs and highlight the difference between behavior modification and training. We will discuss reasons why a dog may develop a behavior problem and the keys to working with a reactive dog. You will understand how ‘trigger stacking’ can lead to an aggressive event. In order to help our young dogs develop into confident, well-adjusted pets we will discuss strategies to “bomb-proof” your dog. Videos and case studies will be presented.

Part 3: Saturday, August 10th 9:00am to 12:30pm

Fears, anxieties, and phobias….OH MY! Fears and phobias are relatively common and can affect dogs of all ages and breeds. In part three learn the difference between fear and phobia. We will discuss commonly found fears and phobias in dogs, such as car rides, vet visits, children, fireworks, thunderstorms, and nail trims. We will review a variety of techniques and therapies we can use to help our fearful or phobic dogs. Videos and case studies will be presented.
