Dogs are always communicating. Learning to understand what they’re telling us is an important step toward safer, more respectful interactions.

Through our humane education programs, we help children recognize canine body language, understand boundaries, and learn how to interact with dogs safely and respectfully.

These lessons also encourage empathy, awareness, and responsibility—skills that can extend far beyond our interactions with animals.
When children learn to understand dogs, we help create safer relationships for everyone.

Banks Didn't Say a Word. He Made a Difference. So

Banks Didn't Say a Word. He Made a Difference.

Sometimes, all it takes is a patient listener to help a child find the courage to try.
During a recent therapy visit, Banks, one of our therapy dogs with R.E.A.D. training, became a very special audience for a student who had often struggled with reading aloud.

When she learned that Banks loves listening to books, she voluntarily picked up a chapter book and began reading to him.
Banks simply sat beside her, listening patiently without judgment or pressure.

When she encountered a difficult word, she accepted a little help and continued reading.
What made this moment extraordinary? Her teacher shared that reading aloud usually brought frustration, outbursts, and tears.

But this time, she chose to read. No tears. No frustration. Just confidence, courage, and Banks by her side.
Banks didn't need to say a word to make a difference. His calm presence helped turn a challenging experience into a meaningful milestone.

At Dog-Harmony, these are the moments that remind us why the human-animal bond matters.
Help us create more moments like this. Support Dog-Harmony.

You don’t need to have a therapy dog to make these

You don’t need to have a therapy dog to make these visits possible.

We’re looking for human volunteers to support our visits in healthcare settings and help us create meaningful experiences for patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Your time, presence, and willingness to help can make a difference in every visit.

Ready to volunteer? Email Nancy at hello@dog-harmony.org to learn how you can get involved.

Care can be found in the moments that help someone

Care can be found in the moments that help someone feel seen, connected, and supported.

This year, 765 hours have already been devoted to our adult wellness and healthcare programs, creating meaningful experiences for adults across healthcare and community settings.

And there is still more work ahead.

Your generosity helps us continue creating these moments and expanding the impact we can make throughout our community.

Be part of what comes next.
